Griffle Records offers a suite of services to help independent musicians create the best products possible. We tailor our services to meet your needs.

Mixing: Although often overlooked by independent and self produced musicians, the mix is a critical step in creating a professional and market competitive product. As a musician we love our music and our brains become accustomed to a certain presentation, often overlooking the sonic warts for which the buying public may not be so accommodating. To avoid this pitfall it is highly recommended that musicians have several sets of ears at least hear, if not modify, their mixes.
Mastering: The mastering process has evolved from being sure the vinyl is being cut properly to “tweak to perfection” process that optimized dynamic range, volume, tonality and general “vibe” of a song or full CD project. It is highly recommended that musicians have a different set of ears, well trained in this process, master their material. This is the step that, if done correctly, takes the amateur or semi-pro product over the professional level bar. You need this level of quality to compete effectively with mainstream commercial music and other independent musicians who have already had this revelation. Griffle Records can provide mastering services of the highest quality on a “try before you buy” basis.
Production: The producer is the person who pulls a project together, makes sure everything is working right and that the musician’s vision is being realized, while at the same time ensuring that the product will be commercially competitive in the appropriate market segment. It is a hard job and requires someone with dedication and experience, as well as a good understanding of the artist’s goals. Griffle Records can provide production advice and services on a case by case basis and will not take on a client for which we can not provide the highest caliber of production service.
Contracts: In some situations it is optimal for the artist to focus on what they do best and let “the label” take on all of the tasks involved in recording, production and manufacturing. Griffle Records can provide this service in a limited scope. A key element is the artist’s level of ambition and proven track record of live shows and sales commitments. Additional factors include genre, skill, professionalism and, as always, general vibe. If you would like to be considered as a Griffle Records artist, let us know. Our contracts are simple, straight forward, and tailored to reward the artist at the highest possible level (i.e., the opposite of the legacy approach).
Gear: We use top quality gear from, for example, Focusrite, Avalon, Digidesign (HD2), Neumann, Lexicon, Genelec, JBL, Mogami, Canare, Fender, Hartke, and more.
